At this time when everyone is expecting 'Eega' to emerge as an entertainer for all by getting a clean 'U' certification from the Censor Board, the surprise came in when it was declared that the film is cleared with a 'U/A' certification by the Censor officials.
When asked about the reason behind this, sources close to the unit mentioned that the 'U/A' certification was given because of a couple of smoking scenes in the movie.
"The official asked director S. S. Rajamouli to delete those scenes to get a 'U' certificate, but the film-makers wanted to retain the scenes, as they are crucial in the movie", they added.
Starring Nani and Samantha in the lead roles, the film will simultaneously hit the screens in Telugu, Tamil (Naan Ee) and Malayalam (Eecha) on 6th July, 2012. A 3D version is also being planned for Bollywood.
