(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Zsa Zsa Gabor is said to be doing well after surgery to amputate her right leg on Friday.
The 93-year-old has recently been beset with health problems, notably being rushed to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in September when found collapsed at her Bel Air home and breaking her hip in July.
Zsa Zsa had been plagued by an infection in her leg for several months which was treated with antibiotics.
But after much speculation it has been confirmed that the actress has had her right leg removed and is recovering well in hospital.
"The surgery today went well, however, she is in frail health so we will continue to monitor her closely," Dr. David Rigberg, associate professor of vascular surgery told waiting reporters.
The stars publicist confirmed an operation was the only option after her wounds refused to heal. John Blanchette told reporters that after conferring with Zsa Zsas husband of 25 years Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, the decision was made.
"Ms. Gabor needed an amputation above her knee due to poor circulation and a large ulcerated area on her right leg. After consulting with her husband, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, we felt this was the best medical course of action," he confirmed.
Frederic assured the stars fans however that his wife would make a full recovery.
"She's going to be OK," he stated. (C) Cover Media
