After 'Padmaavat', 'Manikarnika' face community protest

6th February 2018

Looks like films based on historical happenings are an easy agenda for the protestors as they claim those cliche allegations about the film distorting historical facts without even knowing what's in there. After an avid controversy held by Karni Sena over Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, they finally withdrew after watching 'Padmaavat', the same thing is happening with the Kangana Ranaut-starrer 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' as the period drama now face protest from the Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha. The Mahasabha community's state president, Suresh Mishra, pleads the Rajasthan government on Monday to immediately stop the shooting of the film to make sure that historical facts were not distorted in the epic biographical film about Rani Laxmibai.

The Mahasabha front further added, "We will meet Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh and Rajasthan home minister Gulab Chand Kataria seeking their intervention."

This period flick is being filmed at Malsisar town in Jhunjhunu. The makers also shot some scenes at Amer Fort in Jaipur in 2017 and at Jodhpur's Mehrangarh Fort. Whereas Suresh Mishra ends up saying, "In order to check that the issue doesn't blow up like Padmaavat, the government must ensure nothing controversial is shown in the film. It should get an undertaking from the producers."

Let us see now, just like Padmaavat, does Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' too face controversy?
