Shoojit Sircar's upcoming film 'Pink' starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in the lead have been passed by the censor board with a U/A Certificate. Few days back we saw the trailer of the film which talked about awareness about crimes against women. There are just four major cuts in the movie.
'Sa***', 'Bi***', 'Phaad de unki' and 'Ra***' were 4 verbal words reported a leading publication those went under censor board's scissors. The film's "commitment to projecting the urban Indian woman's predicament in a patriarchal society" impressed the board.
CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalai told leading publication, "Akira and Pink are dark powerful films with hard-hitting content. Normally, they would be granted 'Adult' certificates. But we've given them 'UA' certificates because we at the CBFC feel pre-adult audiences - kids, teenagers and adolescents - need to know what dangers awaits them outside their homes."
Producer Shoojit Sircar was quoted saying, "The CBFC has always been empathetic to my films, right from Vicky Donor, which was about sperm donation. They have always understood the relevance of my film's subject."
Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, the film will release on September 16, 2016.
