50 Cent: Reality is strange

23rd August 2012

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - 50 Cent says inner city life "is stranger than fiction".

The rap star-turned-actor has explained why he is drawn to police movies and gritty urban dramas. The star has a well-documented history of growing up in a tough New York City neighbourhood. He reveals how his own personal experiences have helped his roles in street action films including Freelancers and Righteous Kill.

"Reality is stranger than fiction, if things are going in the city, you'll see things you didn't even think possible," 50 explained to Collider.com. "Inner city struggles... I'm drawn to the action in filming these type of movies, and how easy it is to make things real."

The star enjoys coming up with movie ideas but allows a professional writer to pen the screenplays. However, he often tweaks the script to make it more believable.

"I work constantly on dialogue," he continued. "I like the story writing process. I usually use someone who has been trained for structure to take the story that I actually want, place those elements in the right places. [Afterwards] I'm able to go back and re-fix things. Once it's set, I can rework the dialogue." (C) Cover Media
