Adele: Im not suicidal

The British singer has just released her second studio album, 21, to critical acclaim in the UK. The star achieved a massive hit when her first album, 19, was nominated for a Mercury Prize award in 2008. However, Adele believes that the downbeat tone of 21 means many fans think she is more depressed than she actually is.

"I think people think I'm, like, sort of a manic-depressive. I think they think I'm very sombre and very moody and take myself very seriously, but I think that's just because [of] the kind of records I write," she told MTV.

Adele is known for writing personal songs that usually reflect her past relationships, with 21 being no exception. She explained the albums lyrics revolve around one man who broke her heart. Despite this, Adele believes her album persona should not be confused with real life.

But also, like, everyone is a bit moody and sombre sometimes, just that I write about mine, so therefore it's magnified. I'm no more depressed than any other 21, 22-year-old-girl when someone leaves them, you know," she added. (C) Cover Media
