Akshay Kumar in Neeraj Pandey’s next

7th November 2011

Bollywood’s khiladi number one Akshay Kumar has been signed on by ‘A Wednesday’ fame director Neeraj Pandey for his next film.

Neeraj Pandey, director of critically acclaimed movie ‘A Wednesday’, is all geared up to start his next film based on the famous Opera House jewelry theft of 1987 with Akshay Kumar in the lead. The film will essay Akshay in the role of the man who masterminded the elaborately planned heist.

According to a source, "The film is based on the infamous robbery of 1987, when 26 conmen posing as income tax officials raided a famous jewellery store in Opera House, Mumbai. They had walked away with jewels worth lakhs. This incident shocked jewellers across Zaveri Bazaar."

"Neeraj was always sure that he wanted Akshay for the film.  That is why he waited for almost three years after A Wednesday. Akshay will play the leader of the 26-men army in the film. His character name will interestingly be Mr Kumar," added the source.

It may be recollected that the last time Akshay played the role of a con-man in ‘Tees Maar Khan’, the film flopped badly at the box-office… It would be interesting to see that what new he can offer his audience this time around.
