Alec Baldwin grateful for Emmy nomination

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Alec Baldwin is "gratified" to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award.

The Hollywood actor is in the running for best leading actor in a comedy series for his role as Jack Donaghy in 30 Rock.

Alec is battling it out against a host of other names at the prestigious TV awards show, including Don Cheadle for his role in House of Lies and Jon Cryer - who plays Alan Harper in hit CBS series Two and a Half Men.

Alec is thrilled to have been recognised for his long-standing turn on the show.

"As the show enters its last season, I'm gratified to be nominated again by the Academy," he said of his nomination, according to Hollywood.com.

Alec has garnered much critical acclaim for his performance in the show - winning two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Julianna Margulies was nominated in the best leading actress in a drama series category for her turn in The Good Wife. The star faces tough competition from Michelle Dockery and Elisabeth Moss, but is grateful for the nod.

"I am so honoured to be nominated for The Good Wife. The Academy has been very supportive of me over the years and my appreciation is boundless," she gushed.

Steve Buscemi was named in the best leading actor in a drama series category for Boardwalk Empire. The star gushed about his nomination.

"There are so many amazing performances this year by actors I really admire, that it means a lot to me to being included among them."

The 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be hosted by Kimmel and will air live on September 23 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. (C) Cover Media
