(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Amy Adams believes she surprised herself when choosing daughter Avianas name.

The 36-year-old actress gave birth to Aviana Oleo in May. It is the stars first child with fianc Darren Le Gallo since their union began almost ten years ago. Despite being self-confessed traditionalists, Amy has revealed she stumbled on the name by chance.

We had picked out a whole bunch of other names as well and we had thrown around Aviana, but I was into more traditional names and thought that we would go that direction. But, when she was born we just kept calling her, Avi, Avi, Avi, she told the Rachael Ray Show.

This gentle, name choosing exercise has symbolised Amys relationship with Aviana. The Fighter star freely admits she has become calmer since giving birth and has praised Avianas peaceful nature for helping her get to grips with motherhood.

Oddly enough, Im more relaxed. Im not nervous sitting here talking, last time I was here I was just a mess. [Aviana's] so calm, I think she calms me down. She was born mellow So I roll with her punches, shes great, she added. (C) Cover Media
