(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Anne Hathaway admits she is a serious "nerd".

The actress has revealed that she is a word addict. When speaking with host Jon Stewart on the Daily Show on Thursday, she greeted the audience with a comic line.

"So these are the nerds? My people!" she exclaimed.

Anne spends lots of her time dabbling in nerdy pursuits. Scrabble is amongst one of her favourite pastimes.

"I'm a scrabble fiend." she admitted. "[I play the] board game with family and friends, and then a lot of iPhone passing and then playing against my computer.

"My computer's a b*****d man, it's been kicking my a*s lately so I had to put it on medium," Anne recalled.

Her character in upcoming romantic comedy One Day, Emma, is a nerd too. Anne believes Emma's name was inspired by a reference to a wordsmith that also has a penchant for diction.

"Emma, she is a very bookish character so I think it's a nod to Jane Austen, seminal classic," Anne explained.

Although it did not prove difficult to play someone learned, Anne does admit she experienced rough patches during filming. Emma's accessories took a toll on her.

"My character wears a lot of rings. It was a very, very tough shoot," Anne laughed. (C) Cover Media
