Bollywood's vivacious actress Anushka Sharma has played some very vibrant and colorful characters in her films till date. Be it a con in 'Badmaash Company', a wedding planner in 'Band Baaja Baaraat' or a bold budding short filmmaker in 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', she has done it all.

Despite of pulling off such roles in her former films, the actress got shivers down the spine when she was preparing for her role as Bijlee in 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola'.

"The characters which I played till date made me perform as it was written. But in 'MKBKMD' the character of Bijlee was too vague and difficult to understand. It was very difficult for me to understand and enact the role," said Anushka.

She confessed that at a point she had given up.

"It had mentally drained me. There was a time when I had given up but eventually this film taught me more than expected," added Anushka.

The film where she stars alongside actors like Imran Khan, Pankaj Kapoor and Shabana Azmi is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
