(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Arctic Monkeys have defended the minimalist artwork on their fourth album's cover.
The sleeve of the band's record Suck It and See features just the title over a plain backdrop. Critics have labelled it "lazy" and "rubbish" but the band members wanted a simple cover to deter people downloading it onto their iPods.
"We honestly thought it were pretty good," guitarist Jamie Cook told NME. "We really would've wound people up with some on the other ideas we had, if we'd wanted to."
Drummer Matt Helders echoed the sentiment. He believes people always misunderstand the rock band comprising of Jamie, Matt, Nick O'Malley and Alex Turner which is why the group never pay attention to their detractors.
"It's like they think too much about it, almost," he said. "It'll make sense if you buy the actual album, because there is something to look at inside it. That's why we did it really. It'll look c**p on an iPod screen. We want people to buy the physical product. And we thought it looked good. It looks nice...." (C) Cover Media
