(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Arnold Schwarzenegger is paying estranged wife Maria Shriver "significant child support", claims a source.
The former Governor of California and journalist Maria Shriver announced in May that they were calling time on their 25-year marriage amid Arnold's confession that he fathered a love child over ten years ago.
The pair have four children together; Katherine, 21, Christina, 19, Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13, and although neither Arnold or Maria have yet filed for divorce, it has been claimed child support is being paid.
A source has told Radar Online that Arnold has been contributing "a significant amount of child support... Arnold is also paying for his sons, Patrick and Christopher's private school bills."
Maria, who is a member of American political dynasty the Kennedy family, is believed to be receiving financial contributions from Arnold until a divorce settlement is agreed. She was reported to have hired renowned attorney Laura Wasser shortly after the split was announced, while Arnold is said to have lawyer Robert Kaufman working for him.
"Even though Maria is a Kennedy, and has inherited a great deal of money from her parent's estate since their deaths, she is taking the child support. Under California law she is entitled to the child support, once either one of them files for divorce.
"Maria and Arnold's lawyers have been working on a divorce settlement but in the meantime Arnold is willingly paying the money to Maria," explained the source.
Previous reports claimed Maria could be in line for a 155 million divorce settlement, half of Arnold's estimated 310 million wealth. It has been suggested the journalist wants to make sure any eventual deal they agree on is fair.
"Maria wants to get a fair divorce settlement, and move on with her life. She has already begun to do so. She and Arnold talk quite often, it would surprise people how gracious Maria is being about the entire situation.
"Maria doesn't want the kids to suffer because of stupid decisions their father made, and she encourages them to be honest about their feelings. Arnold has made tearful apologies to his children for his indiscretions," added the insider. (C) Cover Media
