Ashton Kutcher makes jet knife joke

9th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ashton Kutcher has joked private jets are great because you can carry knives on board.

The actor has joined the cast of American TV show Two and a Half Men following the departure of Charlie Sheen. He was sacked after he made rude remarks about the programme's writer Chuck Lorre and network CBS. Charlie also slammed his co-star Jon Cryer, calling him a "troll".

It's a comment which Jon has forgiven him for, with the actor saying he's now looking forward to working alongside Ashton. The two men have already started bonding, and recently took a private jet together as they had to talk business with advertisers.

"[As we boarded] Ashton said to me, You know what I love about private jets? You can bring knives on board!'" Jon laughed to talk show host David Letterman.

David then deadpanned: "There you go... chapter two: He's crazy like the first guy."

Charlie made the comments about Jon during a difficult time in his life. Production on Two and a Half Men was shut down so he could receive rehab treatment at home, leaving many crew members out of pocket. He insisted he was well enough to return but show bosses disagreed, leading to a public spat which culminated in him being let go.

Jon still sees Charlie as one of his best friends and hopes he will manage to re-establish himself in the future.

"I love him, he's a great friend," he explained.

"Nobody was prepared for this, I didn't see it coming, no one did. None of us wanted to continue with the show if we felt it was hurting him, and there was a point when everyone felt like... there was no control here.

"I want him to stay sober, I want him to be reunited with his family. That would be the best thing."

In the midst of his personal problems Charlie was living with two women and battling his ex-wife Brooke Mueller for custody of their two-year-old twin sons Bob and Max. His father Martin Sheen publicly spoke about his son's substance issues, saying he regularly prayed for him to get better. (C) Cover Media
