Avril Lavigne discusses different album

23rd November 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Avril Lavigne has revealed her new album will be more mature than her previous work.

The 26-year-old Canadian singer is set to release her fourth studio album in March 2011, freely admitting that her new offering will be her most personal to date.

The star has had an eventful few years, culminating in the finalisation of her divorce from Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley earlier this month.

As a result Avril readily confesses that she has matured and consequently her musical direction has altered since the release of her last LP, 2007s Best Damn Thing.

"This album is different... I'm older now, so I think that comes across in my music, it's not as pop-rock and it's a little more mellow and it's deep," she told MTV. "But my first single is very 'up' and pop-rock. The first single is very much like my older stuff, but the rest of the album is a departure."

The first single from the album, What the Hell, will be released in January. (C) Cover Media
