Bajpayee, Gupta's next 'Shootout' antogonist

9th July 2013

Gangster flicks have always been one of B-Town's favorite subjects when it comes to movie making; and earlier this topic was more confined to Ram Gopal Varma's movies, but then, it was Ekta Kapoor, who took the underworld stories to the next level and continued the trend with films like 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai' (and its expected sequel 'Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbaai Dobaara') and her last 'Shootout at Wadala' (SAW).

Don Dawood Ibrahim has been at center point when it comes to gangster portrayal onscreen. However, this time Manoj Bajpayee, who played Dawood's older brother in 'SAW', has ironically been roped in by Sanjay Gupta to play yet another infamous gangster in his next. Manoj's character is modeled on Mumbai's gangster Arun Gawli.

Gupta is readying the script of his next 'Shootout' installment, and has signed Bajpayee to play the antagonist. Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham have been finalized to play cops in the film, with Bachchan playing the encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar.

We are glad after the 'Once Upon a Time...' series followed by the 'SAW' and the upcoming 'D-Day', our Bollywood filmmakers have realized that they have milked it when it comes to the trend, and are now looking forward to the other real-life characters from the underworld for their flick.
