19th September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Bethenny Frankel spent a "horrendous" 20 hours lost at sea over the weekend after the GPS on her sailboat malfunctioned.

The reality star turned business tycoon went sailing off the coast of Massachusetts with her husband Jason Hoppy when their fun day out turned dire.

The 40-year-old mother-of-one was on the excursion which was being filmed for her reality show Bethenny Ever After.

"I was on a sailboat on Saturday that was supposed to be eight hours and it ended up being 20 because we were lost at sea," she told E! News.

"The captain had to call the Coast Guard and we were hit by a big wave. It was very scary. It was traumatic. Absolutely traumatic.

Bethenny said she thankfully decided not to bring along her one-year-old daughter Bryn at the last minute but was terrified something bad was going to happen to them leaving her baby an orphan.

"I was thinking, Oh my God, Bryn! I'm not going to be there at six o'clock in the morning when she wakes up and she's going to wonder where Mommy is and gosh, if something were to happen to me, what would happen to her. I was having horrendous thoughts," Bethenny fretted.

The former Real Housewives of New York star said that they were about 10 people on the boat and they "were in the middle of the deep sea with no land or anybody near us".

Luckily they were finally guided back to shore at about 4am early Sunday morning.

Bethenny was recently named as the top-earning celebrity mother beating out the likes of Angelina Jolie and Gisele Bundchen.

Her Skinny Girl brand reportedly made $55 million in earnings between May 2010 and May 2011. (C) Cover Media
