Following the grand success of the Malayalam movie 'Bodyguard', starring Dileep and Nayanthara in lead roles, the film was remade by the same filmmaker Siddique in Tamil as 'Kaavalan'. The film featuring Vijay and Asin in lead roles turned out to be a massive hit and indeed became a life-saver for Ilayathalapathy Vijay, whose previous movies were flunking at the box-office. Later, the filmmaker received an offer from Bollywood for the Hindi remake.

The film is all set to take off with Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles. Now the producers of the Telugu film industry have started working on the project. The film will have the same title 'Bodyguard', with Venkatesh taking on the role that was played by Vijay and Dileep in the Tamil and Malayalam versions respectively. Trisha has been signed opposite Venkatesh in the female lead role. It is worth mentioning that both Venkatesh and Trisha have already paired in many Telugu films that were hits.
