The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, a cause that started to raise awarness and funds for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) has reached Bollywood.
The challenge is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one's head or donating to the ALS Association in the United States.
The challenge that went viral on social media, started with Hollywood celebrities, and it is quickly spreading in Bollywood.
Riteish Deshmukh who was nominated by tennis star Sania Mirza led the way among the industry biggies and nominated Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, Abhishek Bachchan among others to take this challenge that has been performed by public figures across the globe.
While Bachchan junior was quick to respond and took the challenge, nominating his father Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and the entire team of 'Happy New Year'. Sidharth challenged Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor and Mohit Suri.
Akshay Kumar who was also nominated by Riteish, posted his video where he upped the challenge by having 11 icy buckets of water upended on himself. The actor is shooting for a reality show in Cape Town and he asked his contestants to throw the water on him. He has now challenged his wife Twinkle Khanna, Ashwini Yardi, Salman Khan and Johnny Lever.
Sonakshi Sinha on the other hand took the challenge, but did not use any water. "Nobody nominated me. But i still took the challenge. And now i nominate you ALL to do what i just did. If you've already showered, skip the ice water. If you havent, go ahead by all means. BUT please Go to www.als.org to donate," she posted on her microblogging page.
