(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Charlie Sheen is close to signing a deal for a new television show, according to reports.

The 45-year-old actor was sacked from the hit CBS series Two and A Half Men in March after making unflattering remarks about those involved with the programme.

Charlie, who has been replaced by Ashton Kutcher on the popular show, is currently in negotiations with a major American network regarding a sitcom that is being specifically written around him.

American website TMZ reports that there could be a deal in place as soon as the end of this week.

Charlie launched a one man show called My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not An Option and toured the US after his axing from Two and A Half Men, and there has since been speculation that the troubled star is running out of money.

Charlie, who was the highest paid actor on television whilst on the hit comedy, reportedly hasn't convinced some industry bosses that he would be trustworthy enough to appear in a new regular series.

"He is uninsurable," one top studio executive told Deadline.com. (C) Cover Media
