22nd January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Clint Eastwood has called for people to do their best as he doesnt want mediocrity to rule.

The 80-year-old actor and moviemaker is considered an icon in the film industry, having been a fundamental part of some of the best-loved pieces of cinema in history.

Clint began experiencing success as early as the 1950s, with his breakthrough part in television series Rawhide. He feels glad that he was always brimming with ambition, as he thinks thats the way people need to be.

Everybody has dreams and they want to do their best, he explained. I think having the ambition to do your best is important because otherwise mediocrity would rule.

The star recalled that when he directed the 1971 film Play Misty For Me he made a decision about his future career path. Clint realised he wouldnt want to be in front of the screen all of his life, and vowed to make a success of directing.

When I did Play Misty For Me, I thought, Gee, if I could pull this off maybe I could get behind the camera because I may be 78 someday and not want to look at myself in front of the camera.

As you go along, every chapter is a new chapter and someday you look back and say, Gee, I have been doing that. And its been a nice journey, he told Total Film. (C) Cover Media
