Travis Barker pining for Nelson collaboration

22nd January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Travis Barker has revealed his regret that Willie Nelson failed to appear on his new album.

The Blink 182 drummer is just putting the finishing touches to his debut solo album Give the Drummer Some, set to be released later this year. The 35-year-old musician has managed to secure numerous guest performances on the record but its the one who got away that still rankles. Travis confirmed his wish to duet with an iconic country singer may still happen in the near future.

The only person who said no to guesting on it was Willie Nelson, which is a shame because I really wanted him on there. But thats something to aim for next time, he told Kerrang! magazine.

Apart from this small setback, Travis is ecstatic about the way his new LP is shaping up. He revealed making a solo album was an extraordinary experience that allowed him the creative space to indulge all of his musical tastes. He cites appearances from fellow rock artists and hop-hop individuals as evidence of his eclectic influences.

My album is crazy. Making it has been such an awesome experience. I have a ridiculous amount of special guests on there I cant even remember the full list! Theres a Corey Taylor song, a song with Slash, one with Tom Morello and RZA and Raekwon from the Wu-Tang Clan, one with Kid Cudi, one with Chester Bennington, so many cool people, and theyre all people Im friends with. Some of it is a hybrid of rock and rap, some of it is just rock, but I think people who love rock will love it, and people who love drums will love it, he added. (C) Cover Media
