(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Colin Farrell "made a decision" not to change his lifestyle when he became a father even though he was a "drug-addicted drunk".

The Irish actor is known for his hard-partying ways and spent time in rehab in 2005 where he was treated for prescription and recreational drug addiction. In 2003 he became a dad when model Kim Bordenave gave birth to his son James and now he's sober Colin struggles to comprehend how he coped with parenthood.

"I made a decision not to change," he told the November issue of Details magazine. "I literally said, I'm not changing! I'm gonna be his friend!' Like a [bleeping] 28-year-old drug-addicted drunk friend is exactly what my six-week-old son needs."

Colin went on to have another son called Henry with actress Alicja Bachleda-Curu in October 2009. He loves having two boys and they have helped turn his life around.

The 36-year-old hunk marvels at the positive impact quitting alcohol and drugs had on him.

"I've got eight hours a day now that I didn't have before, when I was drinking every day for 18 years It's honest, it's real. That's quite simply the coolest thing," he said.

Colin has previously credited James with saving his life by making him realise he needed to change his ways. He now tries to eat and live healthily, explaining he wants to live as long as possible to be there for his boys. (C) Cover Media
