Colin Farrell still thinking about movie role

15th December 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Colin Farrell kept thinking about his character in The Way Back long after filming had finished.

The Irish actor plays a Russian street criminal called Valka in the film, who leaves the group of men he is travelling with when they reach the Russian border.

Colin revealed he has often wondered what became of Valka after he departed from the band of Siberian gulag escapees to try and make it on his own.

However, the actor admitted that he did not have high hopes for Valkas survival without his comrades.

Absolutely yeah its kept coming to me that he died in the first town that he made it to, Colin told Cover Media when asked what he thought had become of the character. That he died in the first tavern that he made it to... The world of the gulag or the labour camps was something that made great sense to him and something that he could exist within the confines of. The outside world was the world that didnt make sense to him. I did wonder where he walked off. Maybe back to the same town that he had just left.

Actress Saoirse Ronan has also divulged that she had a tough time filming The Way Back, which is based on Slawomir Rawicz's memoir The Long Walk.

While the cast were shooting in blistering temperatures in Morocco, 16-year-old Saoirse was suffering from a bout of food poisoning.

I had this horrific pain in my stomach the whole day but it was still a great shoot besides, she said. (C) Cover Media
