Rajkumar Hirani finally confirms that Ranbir Kapoor will play the lead role in Sanjay Dutt's biopic. Based on the life of the controversial actor, the film will go on floor before Sanjay is released from prison.

RK didn't take long to say 'yes' to the role, revealed the filmmaker. Rumour had it that he was supposed to star in a biopic based on the legendary actor Kishore Kumar, but the project went on back burner due to some copyright issue.

Hirani has got plenty of information about the actor from his family and friends.

Hirani and Dutt developed a special bond during 'Munna Bhai M.B.B.S' and 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai'. Major portion of the film will be shot on real locations and will be written by Abhijat Joshi.
