The Madras high court on Thursday ordered notices to Nadigar Sangam Charitable Trust’s office bearers R. Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi, both popular actors, over a property deal.
The petition filed by S. Murugan and P. A. Kaja Mohideen contended that the actors failed to call a board meeting before taking a decision on constructing a multiplex and shopping mall in the Nadigar Sangam premises at T. Nagar.
After hearing the petition, Justice R. Subbiah ordered a notice, returnable by one week, to Sarath Kumar, Radha Ravi and SPI Cinemas (P) Limited (which had entered into an agreement to construct the complex).
In total disregard to the sentiments of the vast majority of association members, Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi pulled down a building allegedly without any prior approval or authorization or knowledge of the members of the trust's general body, charged the plaintiffs.
