Court quashes more cases against Saxena

9th August 2011

The Madras High Court on Monday quashed criminal proceedings against Sun Pictures chief operating officer (COO) Hansraj Saxena, in connection with four FIRs registered by different police stations in Chennai.

Passing orders, Justice T Sudanthiram said, "The complainants have stated in their affidavits that their differences pertaining to the business transactions and the problems between them have been settled. The first information report shows that there was merely a financial transaction between the parties."

Even a perusal of the FIRs, registered by the Foreshore Estate, Virugambakkam, Nungambakkam and Kodambakkam police stations, showed that they were merely money disputes between the parties.

Considering the ratio laid down by the Supreme Court, the Judge said that he was allowing the petitions and quashing the proceedings against Saxena. The four complainants were film director Rasu Madhuravan, producers Hitesh Jhabak, T D Raja and animation studio proprietor Arul Murthy. It may be recalled that two such cases against Saxena were quashed by the court recently.
