(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Courtney Love has handed over thousands of dollars to go to tea with Adrien Brody.

The American rock musician reportedly bid $17,000 to dine with Academy Award winner Adrien, 37, at a charity event in New York.

Courtney, nine years Adriens senior, put forward the generous amount while stars such as Russell Crowe, Susan Sarandon and Salman Rushdie looked on.

Spies said Love got into a fierce bidding war with Gerard Butler over Brody at the bash, which also marked the opening of restaurant Salon Millesime at the Carlton Hotel on Madison Avenue, the New York Post said.

The night was an Artists for Peace and Justice charity event held by Paul Haggis to raise money for rebuilding Haitian schools after many were destroyed when a devastating earthquake struck in January.

Courtney is also said to have got on very well with screenwriter, producer and director Paul, and left with more than just a date with Adrien.

She also scooped up a walk-on part in Haggis' next movie, the newspaper said. (C) Cover Media
