(Cover) - EN Movies - Daniel Radcliffe believes hiring directors who weren't known for helming special effects blockbusters was a brave decision by Harry Potter bosses.
The directors of the franchise, including Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarn, Mike Newell and David Yates, hadn't created such movies when they were hired for the series. Yet while Daniel knows it was a risky decision he believes it was ultimately the right one.
"Changing directors was great because it was kind of what kept the series fresh and alive," he told SciFi Now. "We've been very good at taking perceived risks in terms of directorial choices; like I don't think many people expected Alfonso Cuarn to direct the third film, or Mike Newell to direct the fourth. I don't think many people expected David Yates to come on for the fifth.
"What we've been very lucky about in terms of directors is that they have all brought their own style, but it's never become distracting, and doesn't feel like it's not a continuation of the last movie."
Daniel has reserved praise for David, who has helmed the last four Harry Potter movies, The Order of the Phoenix, The Half-Blood Prince and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2.
"And specifically why I think David is brilliant, and particularly for the last movie, parts one and two, is that David is a bit of a genius at plot," Daniel explained. "He has such an understanding of the arc of the story, and you need someone with that kind of clarity of vision about the story, and about how he wants to tell the story. It was definitely the right thing to have David." (C) Cover Media
