David Hasselhoff: Broadway dreams were emotional

13th January 2012

David Hasselhoff "couldn't stop crying" when he finally made it on to Broadway.

Although the 59-year-old star is best known for appearing in TV shows such as Baywatch and Knight Rider, singing is his first love. He's released records in the past but it was appearing in musical Jekyll & Hyde years ago which really affected him.

"I loved [Baywatch] it but I left to left to go to Broadway. My heart was on Broadway, I have a trained voice I sang my whole life and I really wanted to do Broadway," he explained to UK TV show This Morning. "Since eight years old I wanted to go to Broadway. It took me 40 years to get there and I couldn't stop crying opening night because I realised my dream was to be on Broadway and I did Jekyll and Hyde."

The TV shows David has been involved with also have a special place in his heart. The star revealed he is holding something back for fans of his biggest two programmes.

"I have outtakes of Knight Rider than no one has ever seen. Some are a little x-rated!" he teased. "I have outtakes of Baywatch which are really x-rated!"

Despite being so well known David still manages to have a normal life. He explained that if he wants to go incognito he simply wears one of the masks of his face which have become popular over the years.

"A cap and some glasses work. Sometimes I wear a Hoff mask and people never expect that so it works," he laughed. "I'm 6ft. 4ins so I have to do things big. When I mess up it's big, when I do a show it's big, everything is big.

"I can ride a standard bike but it's kind of funny because people when they see me they usually go by and crash."
