6th August 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - David Schwimmer has recalled his most "terrifying" cinema moments.

The 44-year-old US actor-and-director shot to fame playing Ross Geller in the sitcom Friends, and is now enjoying success helming movies such as 2010 thriller Trust.

David has always been passionate about film, although when looking back at his earliest memories he can't get over how spooky he found pictures such as 1971 smash Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Disney's 1940 fantasy Fantasia.

"The one I remember is Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, but I probably saw something even before that," he told Total Film. "I remember it being particularly dark for a kid.

"And there was Fantasia which I might have seen even earlier parts of that were quite terrifying too.

"I don't remember my first impression of cinema being terrifying, but I do remember those two films."

In terms of more recent pictures, David expressed his admiration for 2009 drama Fish Tank, which starred Michael Fassbender. The movie tells the story of a 15-year-old girl whose life changes when her mom brings home a new boyfriend.

"I thought the filmmaking - the storytelling and the craft and the performances were just so beautiful and sensitively handled, and it had a really strong point of view," he enthused. "It was absolutely amazing." (C) Cover Media
