Demi Moore addresses weight debate

4th January 2012

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Demi Moore "never imagined" anyone would say she was too thin.

The actress had a difficult time in 2011, culminating in her decision to divorce Ashton Kutcher following allegations he was unfaithful on their sixth wedding anniversary.

The stress took its toll on Demi and she was seen looking increasingly frail. The star has now insisted she is happy with how she looks and doesn't take comments about her body to heart.

"I think I sit today in a place of greater acceptance of my body, and that includes not just my weight but all of the things that come with your changing body as you age to now experiencing my body as extremely thin thin in a way that I never imagined somebody would be saying to me, 'You're too thin, and you don't look good,'" she explained to Harper's Bazaar.

The 49-year-old star admits she's struggled with her self-confidence in the past. She's often worried she doesn't look as good as she could and that has upset her greatly.

"I have had a love-hate relationship with my body," she said. "When I'm at the greatest odds with my body, it's usually because I feel my body's betraying me, whether that's been in the past, struggling with my weight and feeling that I couldn't eat what I wanted to eat, or that I couldn't get my body to do what I wanted it to do."

Although Demi didn't address her marriage breakdown directly, she admits to finding change hard.

The star explained she likes to have a plan and stick to it, so being unsure what lies ahead often seems frightening.

"What scares me the most is not knowing and accepting that just about everything is not in my control. That makes me feel unsafe," she revealed.

"I think being comfortable is perhaps overrated. I think a better word than comfortable is accepting. Accepting weaknesses and strengths and being more able to celebrate all of it as a whole package." (C) Cover Media
