Offbeat film actor Kalki Koechlin who is enjoying much attention as the only female star in Dibakar Banerjee's upcoming flick 'Shanghai' recently admitted that she had to undergo major changes in her look, courtesy orders by her filmmaker.

Apparently, Kalki admits that Dibakar wanted her to look ugly yet adorable in their upcoming political drama. Eventually, Kalki was left with no other option than to go deglamorized for her role in the movie.

The pretty lass in her recent media interaction stated "He (Dibakar) wanted me to look ugly and weak. Eventually he ordered me to chop out my hair and make them too short. He even gave me an ugly wardrobe that contained mostly jagged T-shirts. Initially it was too difficult for me. But later on we realized the importance of this look for the character in my film. Dibakar's idea was just to get me away from the feminine qualities a normal woman possesses."

By the way, it's not only Kalki who has changed her look, even the lead actors Emraan Hashmi and Abhay Deol had to undergo drastic transformation for the film.
