Elle Macpherson: Modelling has changed

29th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Fashion - Elle Macpherson says there is much more intervention in the modelling industry nowadays.

The stunning 47-year-old has had a hugely successful career as a top model, and is best remembered for being dubbed The Body back in her 90s heyday.

Elle is still in incredible shape and modelling work continues to flood in, but she says she finds the experience much different to how it used to be.

She says that when she launched herself as a model and photographers had not yet started using digital cameras, pictures were far more natural and less altered because there werent hordes of other people looking at the image on a computer screen.

Theres a lot of human intervention in photographs today. When it was just film there was only the photographer, the model, the light and the moment, she told Stylist magazine.

Elle accepts that times need to move on though, and she says it isnt just the introduction of technology which has changed the industry. When she started out even the economic climate was completely different. In those days the finance industry was booming, and she thinks the type of models which dominated the runways reflected the wealth of the period.

But it was a different era. Wall Street was booming. America was booming. Guys showed their financial successes and models were huge and statuesque, she recalled. (C) Cover Media
