(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sir Elton Johns mother has not met his son and says she has no particular interest in doing so.

The music legend and his civil partner David Furnish became the proud parents of Zachary on Christmas Day last year, after he was born using a surrogate in California.

Although Davids mother and father immediately flew to see the tot, Eltons mom Sheila Farebrother, 86, was not told of the birth. She and her son fell out almost three years ago, something she is still struggling to come to terms with.

I have no particular interest really. You will have to ask them about that, she replied, when asked about the baby.

Sheila and Elton havent spoken since the disagreement, although he does still look after her financially. She wont discuss the intricacies of their argument, believed to have been caused after she made a comment which angered David.

He has cut me off completely. It happened three years ago this June. He has had nothing to do with me since then. I don't want to go into what caused it. It is a painful subject. My son cut me out of his life for good, she told British newspaper The Sun.

I don't want to start mudslinging. It was very painful. But I've got a lot of good friends so I don't have to be bothered with it all.

Tensions are so strained Elton did not go to the funeral of his stepfather Fred Farebrother, 88, who he is understood to have been close to.

Sheila has also moved house. She used to live around two miles away from Elton and Davids mansion in Old Windsor, near London, but now resides in West Sussex. Sheila insists the relocation, rather than the rift, was behind her decision to sell more than 200 items of memorabilia relating to her son at auction. They eventually fetched 28,820.

The 64-year-old singers spokesperson said: I have never had a conversation with him about whether he talks to his mother. She is a lovely lady but she is 86 and she is frail and old. (C) Cover Media
