Emily Blunt invents new movie genre

20th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Emily Blunt is proud to have invented her own movie genre.

The 27-year-old British actress stars opposite Hollywood hunk Matt Damon in The Adjustment Bureau, a movie about a politician and ballerina who fall in love but are kept apart by mysterious forces.

Emily admits the film is hard to describe, because there are so many different themes within it, but she has come up with her own unique way to describe the movie.

Umm, I would say, it is a modern love story with an existential sci-fi subplot, she laughed to Empire.

I have no idea what genre that is. Apparently, I just invented one.

Meanwhile, her co-star Matt had his own take on how the picture directed by George Nolfi - should be described. He feels the most interesting aspect of the film is the way it explores the themes of Philip K. Dicks short story Adjustment Team, while still adding a new dimension.

Even the original story isnt really science-fiction. And George putting a love story at the centre of it changes the whole tone. It takes elements of Philip K. Dick and combines them with a classic love story. Thats the experiment, said Matt. (C) Cover Media
