(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Emma Watson has joked she needs a translator to communicate with her American classmates.
The 20-year-old actress shot to fame playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movie franchise about life at a school for witches and wizards, based on the hugely successful novels of J.K. Rowling.
As well as being a talented actress, Emma is also very intelligent and is studying for a history degree at the prestigious Brown University in Rhode Island, America.
Emma thoroughly enjoys her studies, and gets along well with her classmates, although she admits they sometimes have difficulties understanding her British turn of phrase. Luckily Emmas best pal is usually on hand to provide translations.
My best friend, Madison, still keeps a list on her phone of all of the different English slang that I use. She has kind of like a translator so she can understand without having to ask me, 'What on Earth are you talking about when you say 'knackered?'" laughed the actress.
The beautiful star admits things have been improving recently though, as when she first enrolled nobody knew what she was talking about most of the time. Emma used phrases such as jumper whereas her peers used the word sweater, leading to plenty of mocking and confusion.
At the very beginning they would pick up on everything I said,
I'd say 'jumper' and they'd be like 'jumper?' she added. (C) Cover Media
