(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ewan McGregor insists there's no secret to his happy marriage, he simply fell in love.

The Scottish actor married Eve Mavrakis in July 1995 and they now raise four children together. With their sixteenth wedding anniversary fast approaching, the 40-year-old actor has mused about their relationship.

He knows many are surprised he's been with his wife for so long, particularly as they married young, but he's never looked back.

"I don't know what keeps us together. I hit 40 this year and I've got friends of the same age who haven't found a partner yet," he told British newspaper The Daily Mail.

"I didn't have a checklist for my ideal woman. I was very young when we met, and I just fell in love with her and knew I wanted to be with her, and I still want to be with her."

Ewan is famously private about his private life. He has kids Clara, 15, and ten-year-old Esther with Eve, as well as two adopted daughters. Jamiyan is ten and they welcomed a baby into their family earlier this year, but haven't confirmed her name.

The actor prefers not to go into specifics about his loved ones, but will say his own upbringing has had a profound effect on the way he cares for his kids.

"We go back to visit my mom and dad in Crieff [Scotland] every summer and the kids love it. My knowledge of parenting comes directly from the way I was raised by my parents I think that politeness and manners are very important," he said. (C) Cover Media
