The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) announced on Thursday that its members would sit on a hunger protest from 5th February (Sunday) in Chennai, to demand fair wages from the producers.
Announcing this, FEFSI general secretary G Siva said, 'Office bearers of all the 23 associations enrolled with FEFSI would take part in the fast protest. The peaceful agitation would take place at Vadapalani'.
The row over wage revision for workers between Tamil Film Producers Council and FEFSI has halted shootings. The TFPC announced it will not have any agreement with FEFSI, and producers will directly employ labour for their films.
Following this, FEFSI said, 'Since our fair demands to hike wages are unmet by the producers, we, along with our family members, are planning to launch a hunger strike. All that we ask is wage on par with the increased cost of living.'
