A Hyderabad Court directed the city police to register an FIR against Genelia D'Souza and five others of a property development company, for allegedly cheating a customer by 'failing' to construct a duplex house.
Ch Tirupathaiah, in his complaint before the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, alleged that the five directors of a real-estate firm as well as its brand ambassador- Genelia, failed to construct a duplex house at Maheswaram mandal on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Tirupathaiah said he had paid Rs 54 lakh towards booking the plot-cum-house in their venture. "The firm's managing director Sujith Reddy and other directors had promised to construct a duplex house on the plot in 2008, which has not been done so far."
"Being the brand ambassador of the firm, Genelia also made false promises through advertisements and brochures and cooperated with other accused in cheating," Tirupathaiah claimed, through his counsel Balaji Vadera.
