After working in Bollywood for many years, Amitabh Bachchan will be making his Hollywood debut with a friendly appearance in 'The Great Gatsby', an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, Long Island. The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher.
The first look of the movie was released by Warner Bros today, where Bachchan is seen sitting with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. He plays a small role of Jewish money lender Meyer Wolfshiem.
Bachchan had earlier on his blog played down his participation in the film citing it a mere one scene appearance as a friendly gesture. He wrote "'Gatsby' my half blink and you miss role, friendly appearance !! But with giants of Hollywood - Leonardo di Caprio, Tobey Maguire !"
Talking about the film Big B posted "The attention to detail, the amount of research and finesse on recreating the 'times' of NYC in the those early years, was simply brilliant. I am certain that when you shall see the film, you will realize that you have indeed been transported to another decade of the early years."
The story is told by Nick Carraway, a Midwesterner living on Long Island, who finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbour, Jay Gatsby. He is drawn into Gatsby's circle, becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy.
