Furnish embarrassed' about Madonna blast

9th February 2012

David Furnish is "embarrassed" about his Madonna Facebook rant.

Sir Elton John's partner blasted the singer on his social networking profile after she triumphed over Elton at the Golden Globe Awards last month.

The Queen of Pop was awarded the trophy for best original song for W.E. track Masterpiece, beating Elton and Lady Gaga's collaboration for Gnomeo & Juliet.

"Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!" David wrote on his Facebook page.

In hindsight, the filmmaker regrets his outburst.

"It kind of freaked me out because I've been on Facebook for three years and nothing I've ever put on my Facebook page has ever gone into the press," David told Access Hollywood. "I was embarrassed."

He doesn't want to get embroiled in a feud and would rather focus on the positive things in life.

David insists the comment was made into something bigger than it really was and that he respects Madonna's work.

"I don't want to put negativity out into the world. I like to put positive things out into the world I was very emotional at the time and I thought it was only to be shared with my friends and never ever meant to go public," he said. "I went back on and I said, I think this has been blown out of proportion and Madonna is a great artist.' I've always been a big fan and I wish her well on her film premiere, because anyone who makes and gets a film released these days, it's a huge accomplishment and you know, you want to wish people well with that."

When asked about the iconic singer's latest performance at the Super Bowl, David explained he hadn't watched it.

But he's heard from friends that it was great and congratulated the Give Me All Your Luvin' singer.

"I didn't see it because I'm not an [American] football fan. I've never watched the Super Bowl in my life, but I went on Facebook and all my friends that saw it said it was fantastic, so well done, her," he said.
