'Gabbar Singh': A story behind the title

21st May 2012

Even as Pawan Kalyan's 'Gabbar Singh' is making record collections, many interesting details on the movie are emerging out. Producer Bandla Ganesh revealed that he had to spend Rs 25 lakhs for the title.

According to the producer, he went through legal negotiations with veteran Bollywood producer Rohan Sippy as the latter objected to the use of the name 'Gabbar Singh' in the title of the former’s film. Sippy said it amounts to cashing in on a brand name, as Gabbar Singh is a popular character from 'Sholay'

Meanwhile, movie mogul D. Ramanaidu gave a pat on the back of Bandla Ganesh, after watching 'Gabbar Singh'. 'The movie is extraordinary from beginning to ending,' he said.

'Pawan Kalyan's performance in the role of a cop was very good. I liked his dialogue delivery and style,' the veteran producer said. While all this buzz is doing rounds about the movie, its stupendous success needs no reiteration.  The film has been the most written-about and talked-about flick of the year.
