George Clooney to reunite with Margulies on Emmys stage

26th August 2010

The Hollywood star is to receive the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the prestigious event. The prize was created in 2002 by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences to honour the memory of actor-and-comedian Hope who helped mould radio and television into something families could enjoy and which could be used as a tool for political and social commentary. Hope died in 2003 aged 100.

The award is given to someone whose humanitarian work has “brought credit” to the industry, and who has helped improve society. It has previously been won by stars including Oprah Winfrey and Bill Cosby. Earlier this year, Clooney organised a star-studded telethon to raise funds for the earthquake-ravaged Caribbean island of Haiti. The event brought in over $60 million.

It has now been revealed Margulies will hand Clooney the accolade. The pair appeared in hospital drama ER together, playing couple Dr. Doug Ross and Nurse Carol Hathaway.

Other stars conformed to be presenting at the ceremony include Neil Patrick Harris, Jeff Probst, John Lithgow, Ann-Margret and Betty White.

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. (C) Cover Media
