Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance lacks the spirit of the original...

A fire-spitting monster- Is he a savior or is he simply evil? Madness which started off in the original Ghost Rider continues in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance but the directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor have been unable to bring the much-needed ferociousness to this sequel.

Johnny Blaze aka Ghost Rider (Nicolas Cage) is on a mission this time; A Mission to save a kid from the evil hands of Roarke (Ciaran Hinds) but it is more of a mission to get his soul back. Johnny Blaze starts off by narrating his life's story, his history and the mystery behind him becoming the Ghost Rider. When he realizes that a young boy is going to share the same fate as his, or even worse, he sets out to fight the evil, on the outside, and within. Will Johnny Blaze ever get rid of his evil self- the Ghost Rider? Can he save the kid, Danny (Fergus Riordan)? Or will Roarke win again? The movie explores through all this and ends on a note which definitely is a clear indication of a sequel.

The first impression, after watching the movie is "Not bad...it was fun!" but the more you think about it, the more you realize that it really isn't that impactful. The craziness of the Ghost Rider and the much-needed action of this anti-hero is absolutely missing making the movie really bland. Nicolas Cage still gives a superb performance. And although the rest of the cast has done justice to their roles, they are in fact unmemorable.

The movie is not exactly gripping, exciting or thrilling. Simply put, it is just about entertaining. And since the 3D is not much use, it can be watched even on a DVD. The directors had everything- the concept, good actors, superb effects but they just couldn't pull this off properly. Overall, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is not bad, but forgettable.
