(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Giuliana Rancic is "doing well" after her breast cancer surgery, her husband reveals.

The celebrity television presenter announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer on Monday.

Giuliana underwent a double lumpectomy surgery to combat the disease on Wednesday.

Giuliana's spouse Bill Rancic is happy to report that she is recuperating nicely after the procedure.

"She's a trooper. She pulled through it and was kind of relieved to get it over with and get the cancer out," Bill told American talk show programme the Today Show this morning. "She's doing well at home and recovering."

Although the operation went smoothly yesterday, Bill admits that the process was arduous.

"It was kind of a long day," Bill recounted.

"There's many steps in the process when you go through this. Because it was on both breasts, the morning started off with a two hour MRI where they had to put a guide wire in so the surgeon knew exactly what area to remove."

After the MRI scan was performed, Giuliana underwent a mammogram followed by a two-hour long surgery. Bill is devoted to aiding Giuliana in her recovery.

"I'm adding nurse to my resume," Bill said. "I wish I could take some of the pain away. Watching her being wheeled into that operating room was heartbreaking for me. I'm just doing everything I can to support her and make sure that she's comfortable and try to make her laugh as often as possible."

The couple are in good spirits despite the illness. Bill and Giuliana prefer to take a positive perspective on the situation.

"We're viewing this as a gift," Bill explained.

"It was caught accidentally very, very early."

Giuliana's cancer was caught earlier and she is expected to make a full recovery. She will return to work as a host on E! News network next week. (C) Cover Media
