(Cover) - EN Movies - Warner Bros. are reportedly already lining up a Green Lantern sequel and are said to be happy with how the film is performing.
The superhero movie hit screens recently, with Ryan Reynolds taking on the lead character. He is Hal Jordan in the film, a test pilot for the US Air Force who becomes the first earthman to be inducted into the intergalactic Green Lantern Corps.
It didn't perform quite as well as expected, but despite that the movie studio believes another instalment is a must.
"Sources say Warners still believes in the franchise, even if the studio is somewhat disappointed' with Green Lantern's result," states The Hollywood Reporter.
This weekend, Green Lantern saw a 66% decline at the US box office. It topped the list last week, taking $52.6 million for its debut. However this time round it dropped to the third spot.
Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution for Warner Bros., insists the decline isn't anything to worry about as it often happens with sci-fi movies.
Ryan recently hinted he is keen for more outings as Hal, explaining he thinks the plot line for the second instalment is obvious.
"There's such a rich history with this character, so you get really excited about the possibility. The inevitable war between Hal and Sinestro is something that will have to be dealt with in the second movie for sure, but there's always subplots and a lot of other interesting things going on that are setting up a possible third film," he said.
