(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have made their first public appearance as a couple, and seemed very much in love.

The pair began dating after they became close while shooting movie Dark Tide in South Africa earlier this year. The thriller focuses on a diving instructor who decides to return to the water after a near-fatal encounter with a great white shark.

Although they have been spotted enjoying dates together, Saturday night was the first time they had walked the red carpet with each other. They attended the 2010 Carousel of Hope Ball in Los Angeles, and strutted into the event holding hands. Halle wore a red flowing dress, with Olivier opting for a dark suit and white shirt.

During the show inside the Beverly Hilton, emceed by Jay Leno, Halle kept her arm around her man's shoulders as they were seated, reports E! Online. They were whispering and sneaking kisses throughout the show, and looked very happy and very much in love.

The charity gala was held to raise funds for the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes, and a host of other big-name stars attended. Among them were Rod Stewart and his pregnant wife Penny Lancaster, Paris and Nicky Hilton and Raquel Welch.

Jennifer Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony were also there, and performed a duet together. Marc sang on his own first, and brought his wife on stage by saying: I met this girl in the parking lot tonight... she's pretty cute. She has potential. So I'm gonna bring her on stage with me.
