Shilpa Shetty who was born and brought up in Mumbai, attended St. Anthony's Girls High School, and graduated from Podar College. She is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer and a black belt holder in Karate.

Shilpa has worked in many Bollywood, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada movies. She started her career with the movie 'Baazigar' and continued with over 40 films after that. She was appreciated for movies like 'Dhadkan', 'Rishtey' and 'Phir Milenge'.

She rose to fame when she was crowned the winner with 63 percent votes in the British real life television show 'Big Brother'. This was followed by a re-establishment of her status in the film industry when she appeared in two successful movies 'Life in a Metro' and 'Apne', with her performance in the former drawing positive reviews.

She won the Bollywood Movie Awards for Best Supporting Actress, Zee Cine Awards for Best Actor in a Supporting Role - Female, Giant International Award and many more.

Shilpa Shetty hosted 'Bigg Boss' the Indian version of 'Big Brother'. She is also a part owner of the Indian Premier League franchise cricket team 'Rajasthan Royals'. Shilpa has lended her support to a BBC World Service Trust television show designed to tackle the problem of HIV-AIDS in India. The actress was also one of the judges for the popular Indian dance television show 'Nach Baliye' season 5 in 2012.

She has a younger sister, Shamita Shetty who is also an actress in Bollywood. Shilpa is married to Raj Kundra, a British-born Businessman. The couple have a son named Viaan Raj Kundra.
