One of India's greatest living legends, the thespian, the iconic Bollywood veteran Dilip Kumar turns 93 as he celebrates his birthday today 11th December 2015.

The legendary actor made his Bollywood debut with the 1944 film 'Jwar Bhata' and got noticed for his acting prowess immediately but he got his first big break with the 1952 film 'Daag' which became a blockbuster and fetched him much recognition and his first Filmfare Award.

Post the film's success Dilip Kumar went on to play a wide variety of roles in numerous films such as 'Andaz', 'Aan', 'Devdas' 'Ganga Jamuna' and 'Mughal-E-Azam' and all these films too went on to become blockbusters and eventually achieved cult status.

So huge was his superstardom and so gripping was his clutch on the Indian film industry that eventually he was referred to as "Marlon Brando" of Indian Cinema because of his jaw dropping method acting prowess.

Well, having said so much about the legend, it's pretty obvious that Dilip Kumar has been nominated for award several times in his illustrious career and has won the Filmfare Award a record breaking eight times.

He won the Filmfare Award in the Best Actor category for 'Daag', 'Devdas', 'Azaad', 'Naya Daur', 'Kohinoor', 'Leader', 'Ram Aur Shyam' and 'Shakti'. Besides this Dilip was also honoured with the 'Lifetime Achievement Award' by the Indian Government in 1993.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Dilip Kumar is one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian Cinema, the veteran, the thespian, the one whose success can never be duplicated.
